  • TVRA - Newsletter - February 2010

    Firstly , I want to thank you all for your contribution to a really vibrant meeting on Mon 8 February 2010.

    Councillor Brenner , Chairperson of the Blaauwberg sub council, who usually attends our meetings commented positively on the increased numbers and the good spirit at the meeting. Word is getting around that our numbers are growing and that we are becoming a force to be reckoned with.

How to join the TVRPA and costs:
The membership runs from Jan to Dec each year and costs R120.00 pa.

Members:
Anyone who is a ratepayer/property owner in the area can join.

Non-members
Residents/tenants may attend meetings and participate but may not vote on any issues.

Next meeting(s):
Usually the first Monday of each month traditionally, but they are considering every second month , as they are updating weekly via email system and data base and there are MANY meeetings to attend if we want to voice our opinion on all issues. The TVRPA be voting on this at the next Exco meeting .

We are striving to:

  • Justice for all - the "little person" dwarfed by development , deprived of sun and views, property devalued.
  • Fighting indiscriminate densification and high-rise property development in Table View, especially at our beach-front.
  • Holding our councillors and officials accountable to their electorate.
  • Being the eyes and ears of our suburb on law enforcement , service delivery, council doings, Provincial doings...

History of the TVRPA:
Joy McCarthy was an Exco member way back in 1979 when she first moved to Table View. When she moved to Namibia in 1986, TVRPA was going strongly. When she returned in 1990 there was a Table View Residents Association - apparently a difference of opinion. Genni Easton resurrected the TVRPA in early 2007 and it has been going from strength to strength ever since.
