There will be traffic disruptions at the intersections of Milner Street and Boundary Road this weekend, the City of Cape Town said on Friday.

"This is to allow for the continuation of construction along the R27 for Cape Town's new Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) system," spokeswoman Kylie Hatton said in a statement.

"Engineers will commence work after the morning rush hour peak on Friday, 12 March and will finish their work before the morning rush hour period on Monday, 15 March. In order to finish the work as quickly as possible, work will continue after normal working hours," she said.

Directional information signage will be erected to guide motorists through the construction area. Motorists were urged to use alternative routes.
